I've been enjoying more poetry lately, this week from Jarod K. Anderson. His poem called "Forsythia" felt very poignant and apt as conflicts around the world reached a fever pitch in the Western media. I decided to take a page out of Gavin Aung Than's Zen Pencils to illustrate this piece.
I'm listening and learning so much, putting my opinions and perspectives through exhausting exercises that keep me up at night, and also exploring how far is the true extent of my empathy. Mostly, I realized the need to show up and keep evolving. It's both a privilege and a revolution to be forsythia.
I love the beauty of this story of the Forsythia. It encompasses everything in life, the difficult and "heavy" times, but also the beautiful times when the Forsythia blooms... I will hold onto that!
This comic is so beautiful that it stuns me. You have given me a gift that helps me at the exact time that I am "staggering low beneath a burden" that came from "new knowledge that has shifted my center of gravity." It's like you created it just for me at just this moment. Thank you.
